Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in width overall consisting of a vertical bayonet, point up, surmounting a hammer and wrench crossed saltirewise, all gold, on a red disc encircled by a gold gear, and all above a blue scroll, the ends curving upwards and terminating over the sides of the gear rim inscribed "READY IN NEED" in gold letters.

Symbolism
The colors blue and red allude to the branch colors of Infantry, Artillery and Engineers.  The color yellow (gold) refers to the Cavalry and Armor, thereby representing the sum total of organizational support provided by the organization.  The hammer, wrench and gear allude to the basic mission of the organization and the bayonet represents combat readiness.  Furthermore, the upper area of the gear simulates merlons of a castle and refers to service in Europe during World War II.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 19 December 1980.
